Lisa is a retired paramedic and military officer, living daily life with assistance dog Lilly.
Lisa brings lived experience as a mental health consumer, along with professional qualifications, to offer clients a broad range of services and supports across the Animal Assisted Services Sector. As a professional member of Animal Therapies, Lisa represents assistance animal handlers Australia wide, and has been privileged to present at their national conference for the past three years. In 2020, Assistance Paws was recognised as a category winner at the Animal Therapies National Conference for outstanding support to assistance animal handlers. |
Lilly is Lisa’s assistance dog.
They first met in New Zealand, not long after the Christchurch Earthquakes.
Lilly was a regular adventurer & escapee, desperate for a new home, and Lisa was missing the companionship of a dog.
It was meant to be … and they’ve been best of friends and supports ever since.
In her Assistance Dog role, Lilly is recognised under the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act, s9.2a and 9.2c
and under New Zealand equivalency.
Lilly flies, drives and travels about Australia with Lisa, staying in hotels and campsites, riding buses and trains, visiting
businesses as an ambassador … and more
